Family

What does it mean for you?

We are all unique and individual. Hard to believe with 7 billion people on the planet no two of us are the same. I find that incredible. Although each one of us is unique we are all made up from parts of our elders and predecessors. I have two sisters and a brother with the same parents, yet we are all so different and we don’t really look alike. Close friends and pets are also often referred to as family. So what makes family?

For me it is a collection of people both related to me and not along with my dog Millie who has really replaced my children as they are now big adults and are not dependant on me anymore, well, not the way they were when they were young. Millie however is totally dependant on me for her care and wellbeing.

My husband and children are the center of my family unit. They support me, love me, put up with me and fill my life with laughter and joy. Well most of the time! It’s not always rosie.
Very often we have different relationships with various family members and each relationship is an integral part of being a family. Sometimes we don’t get on or see eye to eye but when you have family that loves you they will always have your back.

My parents passed away many, many years ago. As I get older, although I am used to living my life without them there is always the gap that no one else can ever fill. It is a void really but over time you have no choice but get used to it. Families that have parents and grandparents indeed, are very lucky. Cherish and make the most of them if you can. Don’t miss a day when you don’t tell someone how much you love them. Even your dog or Pet!
